When enjoyed chilled, the dominant notes of passionfruit surfaced at the outset of each sip, showcasing its characteristic tartness. The coconut jelly introduced concentrated sweetness and a delightful, bouncy texture to the beverage. Meanwhile, the unsweetened tapioca pearls provided a soft, chewy element that alleviated the overall tartness and sweetness, with the added benefit of contrasting textures. The passionfruit seeds contributed a pleasant crunch to the experience. Towards the end of each sip, a subtle astringency and a hint of floral qualities emerged, signalling the presence of jasmine green tea as the base.
Overall, the most notable distinction in this drink, compared to the version from CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice, was the smaller quantity of passionfruit pulp. This adjustment mitigated the acidity and allowed for a lower sugar content while preserving the drink’s refreshing flavour profile. We would readily revisit this beverage for its invigorating taste.
