“Cerisier” means cherry blossom in French. This Lupicia Cerisier was a 2023 limited edition sakura tea.
The tea was a looseleaf premium decaffeinated black tea blended with cherry blossom leaves and scented with cherry and peach.
By steeping 3 grams of loose leaf tea in 200 mL of water at a temperature of 85°C for 3 minutes, the resulting infusion exhibited a clear, deep amber hue, accompanied by a gentle cherry aroma. When served hot, subdued notes of white peach took the forefront with each sip, carrying a delicate sweetness that then transitioned to a subtle acidity contributed by the sakuranbo. These peach and cherry nuances delicately scented the tea, imparting a modest increase in sweetness to the inherent fruity undertones of the black tea base. The presence of cherry blossom leaves provided the tea with a well-rounded flavour profile. Overall, this tea boasted an appealing taste and fragrance, particularly suitable for moments when a controlled caffeine intake is desired.
This Lupicia Cerisier contained 50 g. The tea was sourced from Sri Lanka, packaged in Japan, and purchased in Tōkyō, Japan in 2023.
