This Morinaga Hi-Chew Pineapple was a regional flavour for Okinawa, which we picked up from satellite store for the prefecture in Tōkyō. It used the juice from Okinawan grown golden pineapples.

Each candy piece measured approximately 2.5 x 1.5 x 1 cm, with an opaque yellow exterior and a white interior. Upon tasting, the candy had a mellow pineapple aroma and a soft, taffy-like texture that allowed the teeth to sink through easily. The pineapple flavour was immediate from the first chew, leading to a vibrant, juicy sweetness reminiscent of golden pineapples. The flavour captured the richness of fresh pineapple at peak ripeness, delivering a balanced sweetness and tartness that persisted through the finish, similar to rich pineapple juice. Notably, there was no hint of artificiality. Like regular Hi-Chew, the candy was chewy but did not cling to the teeth and left a clean aftertaste. Overall, these candies excelled in both texture and flavour, providing a delicious treat.
This Morinaga Hi-Chew Pineapple contained 55 g or 12 pieces. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Tōkyō, Japan in 2023.
