This is the Koikeya Sucorn Karisaku Nōmitsu Ebi. They consisted of extruded corn snacks seasoned with a rich shrimp flavour, and less salt.

These snacks were a vibrant yellow-orange colour, coated with powdered seasoning in white, red, and black hues, and emitted a potent aroma of shrimp. On tasting, the snacks provided a satisfying crispness, with the oceanic essence of shrimp briefly at the forefront of each bite, followed by a subtle sweetness amplified by the corn base. As the bite progressed, the flavour evolved into a rich, briny savouriness that lingered into the finish. Subtle nutty undertones, reminiscent of shrimp shells, emerged, accompanied by a mild peppery heat that softly persisted in the aftertaste. While we enjoyed these snacks, with the addictively crispy and light texture being a highlight, a bolder mid-bite shrimp flavour could enhance the overall experience.

This Koikeya Sucorn Karisaku Nōmitsu Ebi contained 78 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2023.
