This is the Toblerone Crunchy Salted Almond. It consisted of milk chocolate with honey (2.5%), almond nougat (1.3%) and salted caramelised almonds (7%). This was a twist on the original milk chocolate version (in the yellow packaging) that included salted caramelised almonds.
Each block was in the shape of a triangular prism, consisting of 11 segments, with edges measuring approximately 5 cm. Similar to the regular version, the inclusion of honey in the milk chocolate imparted a floral complexity and creamy sweetness to the chocolate, while the almond nougat introduced textural diversity and a comforting nuttiness. In this variation, the presence of salted caramelization offered each bite a subtle initial crunch reminiscent of popping candy, followed by the gradual melting of the milk chocolate and honey into a velvety smoothness. As the chocolate dissolved, the delicate salt notes spread across the palate, accompanied by the more pronounced crunch of the almonds.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this twist on the original, as it maintained the essence of the original while enhancing it with more almonds, which were already a flavour and textural component of the original, and the addition of salt, which provided a delightful counterpoint to the honey’s sweetness.
