This is the Edition Roasters Iced Hōjicha Latte ($6.50, +$0.50 for iced). It used hōjicha powder from Shizuoka.
The beverage had an opaque khaki hue and emitted a rich roasted hōjicha aroma When consumed chilled, the hōjicha flavor was prominent with a velvety richness and intense roasted notes. The drink’s creamy texture came from the generous amount of finely ground hōjicha powder and the dairy base, giving it a smooth mouthfeel with minimal grittiness. While the dairy taste was not overpowering, it left a lingering presence in the aftertaste, accompanied by a subtle hint of astringency from the tea. Overall, it ranked among the best available in Sydney, with perhaps only the soy version from Comeco Foods surpassing it.
