This is the Bonchi Agesen Ebi. Its ingredients included shrimp, bonito stock and kelp powder.

Each package 6 packs each containing 10 crackers. Each extruded cracker measured about 4 x 1 x 1 cm in size, with a golden exterior and pink interior flecked with red, and emitting a fried aroma with hints of shrimp.

Upon tasting, the initial savoury kick from the external dusting of fine salt was followed by a light crunch. As one munched through the crackers, a rather subdued flavour of the rice cracker itself emerged before gradually giving way to the pronounced taste of dried shrimp with subsequent bites. By the end, the crackers left a satisfying, savoury shrimp flavour lingering, devoid of any oily undertones hinted at by the aroma.
Overall, these rice crackers delivered on the promise of dried shrimp flavour, enticing us to reach for another piece from the package. However, while enjoyable, there are more flavourful and refined versions available on the market, such as Calbee Kappa Ebisen, that are more deserving of repurchase.
This Bonchi Agesen Ebi contained 72 g or 6 packs. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
