This is the Yamazaki Biscuits Chip Star Premium Ebi Nori. It featured sweet shrimp powder and nori incorporated directly into the potato dough, rather than being added as powdered seasoning.
The chips had a yellow-orange hue with red and green spots and a light dusting of fine salt. Upon opening the packaging, a robust aroma of sweet shrimp filled the air. Unlike conventional chips where seasoning is dusted on the surface, the flavour in these Premium chips is embedded into the dough, resulting in a reverse taste experience. Initially, the rich potato flavour took the lead, accompanied by the trademark crispness of Chip Star chips. Mid-bite, the delightful umami of nori emerged, followed by the sweet shrimp’s bold, lingering taste of the sea. Overall, these chips offered a delicious blend of flavour and texture, definitely worth repurchasing.
