This is the Asahi Mitsuya Cider Premium Sweet, launched in 2024 to commemorate the 140th anniversary of Mitsuya Cider. Setting it apart from the regular Mitsuya Cider, this version incorporates brown sugar as an additional accent alongside granulated sugar.

The beverage had a clear amber hue and emitted a sweet ramune aroma, accompanied by a moderate level of carbonation. When consumed chilled, rich ramune notes immediately emerged, complemented by a gentle sweetness from the brown sugar. This sweetness lent the drink a rounded and smooth mouthfeel, distinct from the sharpness found in the current Mitsuya Cider. The mellow sweetness persisted through to the finish, alongside the lingering ramune notes, followed by the bubbles cleansing the palate, leaving behind a crisp hint of ramune in the aftertaste.
Overall, the ‘Premium Sweet’ version offered a richer flavour compared to the thinner ‘Classic 1970‘, presenting an elegant sweetness that served as a welcomed alternative to the current Mitsuya Cider, albeit with a slightly less refreshing quality due to its restrained sharpness.
This Asahi Mitsuya Premium Sweet contained 500 mL. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
