This is the Kang Shi Fu Sugarcane & Water Chestnut Juice. It contained 2.3% sugar cane concentrate and 2.1% water chestnut concentrate. Based on a traditional Chinese drink, it’s consumed for its cooling properties, reducing heatiness, and clearing phlegm and unwanted body fluids.
The drink was a clear yellow hue, and carried a sweet aroma of sugar cane, with distinct nutty overtones of water chestnut. Served chilled, it immediately delivered a crisp sweetness, followed by the gradual emergence of water chestnut notes, which grew increasingly prominent mid-sip and intensified into the finish. The presence of water chestnut added a nutty, moderately tart element to the syrupy sweetness of the sugarcane, evoking a blend of coconut’s nuttiness and the crisp, sweet-tart profile of an apple. Despite its intense sweetness (which could benefit from being toned down from its syrupy level), the beverage presented a surprisingly refreshing flavour profile, ideal for cooling down during the summer.
