The soup had an opaque beige-tan colour with a thick, creamy consistency from the blended potato. Small pieces, about half the size of a grain of rice, remained, retaining their structure but soft and yielding, like well-cooked fluffy potatoes. Some softened leek pieces provided a slight variation in texture, though the overall flavour was predominantly potato, with the leek and onion contributing a subtle sweetness. Straight out of the can, the soup tasted bland—essentially underseasoned potato and leek, as expected—but a spoonful of MSG added depth and body, making it much more enjoyable.
