Saitō Sora-Iro Cola

This is the Saitō Sora-iro Cola, a cola beverage infused with salt from Japan’s Setouchi region.

The drink featured a clear, vivid blue hue—intended to evoke the skies of Okayama, often referred to as the “land of fine weather.” The aroma was mellow and cola-forward, with distinct citrus undertones. Consumed chilled, the initial notes were of classic cola spice, including cinnamon, followed closely by a pronounced citrus brightness. This citrus accent is another nod to the Setouchi region, which is known for its lemon production. The salt content was subtle but perceptible, emerging more distinctly toward the finish. As the carbonation faded, a lingering combination of light citrus and a sweet-salty note remained on the palate and lips. While visually striking and mildly novel in flavour, this was ultimately more of a curiosity than a beverage that warranted repurchase.

This Saitō Sora-Iro Cola contained 330 mL. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
