This is the Asahi Calpis Blend Rich White Grape, a yoghurt-based beverage made by blending concentrated Calpis with 10% white grape juice from two premium varieties: Muscat of Alexandria and Chardonnay.
The drink had an opaque white hue and gave off a sweet-sour aroma reminiscent of green grapes, underpinned by the tangy, fermented yoghurt scent typical of Calpis. When consumed chilled, the elegant floral sweetness of Muscat of Alexandria emerged immediately, followed by the soft, creamy tang of the Calpis base mid-sip, offering a drinkable yoghurt profile that was neither too sour nor too sweet. A moderate, puckering astringency then transitioned into a brighter, crisper finish, where the acidity and slightly tart sweetness of Chardonnay carried through. The aftertaste was clean, making the drink feel refreshing rather than cloying. Altogether, it delivered a well-balanced, layered green grape flavour profile—complex yet easy to enjoy from start to finish.
