This is the Nippon Yell Gummy Fukui Koshino Ruby Tomato, made with juice from Koshino Ruby tomatoes grown in Fukui Prefecture.
Each gummy measured approximately 2 cm in diameter and 1 cm in height, with an opaque pink-red hue and a distinctive aroma reminiscent of tangy cherry tomatoes. On tasting, the gummy had a firm, bouncy exterior that yielded to a softer, jelly-like centre. The outer layer offered a mellow, sweet tomato flavour, while the jelly core introduced a brighter, more tangy and umami-rich note.
When eaten whole, the chewy exterior extended the experience of the juicy jelly core, producing a layered and concentrated fresh cherry tomato flavour. Importantly, the profile avoided any resemblance to tomato sauce or savoury applications. Instead, it evoked the flavour of a ripe plum cherry tomato—balanced, bright, and natural.
Alongside the UHA Mikakutō Miwaku Sweet Corn gummy, this stands out as one of the more unconventional yet highly successful gummy flavours encountered to date.
