This is the UHA Mikakutō Cororo Kajitsu Apple. Each 40 g bag contained nine gummies, shaped like miniature sausages with a golden-yellow hue, each measuring approximately 2 cm in length and 1.5 cm in diameter. Upon opening, the gummies released a fragrant aroma of fresh, juicy red apples. Each piece featured small cubes of real apple embedded within the gummy centre.
On tasting, the outer membrane gave way with a crisp snap, revealing a firm, jelly-like interior. The texture resembled a gelatin-set jelly—slightly bouncy—with a distinct, agar-like crunch contributed by the membrane and enhanced by the embedded apple cubes, which measured approximately 3 x 3 mm. The apple flavour was immediate and bright, initially moderate in intensity but gradually deepening as the gummy melted on the palate. Rather than resembling apple juice concentrate, the flavour felt fresher and more nuanced. The apple pieces contributed a natural sweetness and subtle acidity, offering a textural and flavour contrast reminiscent of crisp Fuji apple.
The overall sweetness was well-balanced, neither cloying nor overly tart, with a clean, juicy finish. These gummies offered a notably refined and natural apple profile and are well worth revisiting.
