This is the Sealord Fish of the Day Whiting Classic Crumb Fillets, containing 60% Southern Blue Whiting. These were tried following a review that rated them as the best crumbed fish option in the supermarket freezer section.
Each pack contained four rectangular pieces, approximately 10 x 5 x 2 cm in size, with a golden crumbed exterior that showed no signs of sogginess. They were prepared in an air fryer at 190ºC for 14 minutes per side.
On tasting, the crumb coating delivered a satisfying crunch that gave way to moist whiting flesh. The classic crumb was flavourful despite the absence of added herbs or spices, and the ratio of fish to crumb was generous. The fish itself offered a clean, moist flavour with delicate yet substantial flakes.
Overall, this was an excellent frozen fish option: generous in size, flavourful, and true to the taste of actual fish without any sogginess.
