This is the Morinaga Hi-Chew Okinawa Shiikuwāsā, made with juice from shiikuwāsā grown in Okinawa Prefecture.

Each piece was rectangular, measuring 2.5 × 1.5 × 1.0 cm, with a pastel green exterior, a white interior, and a crisp, fragrant shiikuwāsā aroma.
On tasting, the smooth surface yielded to a soft, pliable chew that avoided stickiness. The flavour opened with a gentle sweetness, before a few chews released the characteristic fragrance of shiikuwāsā. Mid-body, this developed into a subtle herbaceous sharpness with a faint tingling sensation on the tongue, before building into a bold, juicy acidity. The finish carried the fruit’s crisp fragrance, leaving a refreshing, lingering impression. It was a faithful and nuanced rendition of the fresh fruit.
Overall, an impressively balanced confection, combining juicy sweetness, lively acidity, and a satisfying chew.
This Morinaga Hi-Chew Okinawa Shiikuwāsā contained 55 g (12 pieces). It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
