This is the Lotte co-Trip Funwari Puchi Cake Gifu Kissashitsu Sanmyaku Mont Blanc, a collaboration product recreating the “Sanmyaku (Mountain Range) Mont Blanc” from Sanmyaku Tea Room, a retro-modern café in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture. The shop, renovated from an 80-year-old house, offers a quiet space suited to a slower pace, serving Mont Blanc made with Japanese chestnuts and seasonal Gifu fruit alongside house-roasted coffee.

Each box contained eight individually sealed pieces.

Each piece was circular, measuring 5 cm in diameter and 2 cm in height, with khaki matcha cookies enclosing a tan chestnut cream. The aroma combined sweet chestnut with a gentle matcha note.

On tasting, the exterior offered a delicate, faintly crisp give before yielding to a soft, near-aerated texture that dissolved readily on the palate. The chestnut flavour appeared immediately, first through the aroma and then as a rounded, earthy sweetness supported by subtle umami. The cookie component behaved more like an ultra-light cake, merging seamlessly with the chestnut cream. The matcha remained understated, surfacing mainly in the finish as a brief, clean bitterness once the chestnut sweetness eased. A light chocolate drizzle contributed a richer accent, adding a faint coffee-like impression.
Overall, a thoughtful balance that allowed both chestnut and matcha to be present without competing.
This Lotte co-Trip Funwari Puchi Cake Gifu Kissashitsu Sanmyaku Mont Blanc contained 69 g (8.7 g x 8 pieces). It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
