Asahi Passiona

This is the Asahi Passiona, an iconic Australian soft drink formerly produced by Cottee’s and later by Schweppes Australia, formulated with passionfruit juice.

The beverage presented an opaque orange hue with a distinctly sweet passionfruit aroma. Carbonation was soft to moderate, with finer bubbles rather than aggressive fizz.

When consumed chilled, it opened with immediate, recognisable passionfruit — bright, juicy, and closely resembling the pulp and juice of fresh fruit. Through the mid-palate, the profile broadened into a rounded sweetness supported by moderate tang. The passionfruit character carried consistently through to the finish, remaining the clear focal point.

Compared to Pasito, the carbonation was gentler and less effervescent, resulting in a softer, less sharply “clean” aftertaste. The finer bubbles suited the rounder, sweeter profile of the drink. It was sweeter and less tart overall, yet delivered the most pronounced and authentic passionfruit flavour among comparable versions.

Overall, this was the sweetest and most passionfruit-forward of the variants — rich in fruit character, though increasingly difficult to find.

This Asahi Passiona contained 345 mL. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2026.
