They featured four thin layers pressed together, forming the brand’s characteristic turtle-shell shape. Each chip measured roughly 2 × 2 × 1 cm and was dusted with fine green-to-black flecks of seaweed.
On tasting, the layered structure delivered a very crisp, airy crunch. The flavour opened with a noticeable sweetness from the corn base, followed by a similarly strong savoury note. However, the seaweed character itself was fairly subdued. Much of the umami was masked by the sweetness of the corn and the general seasoning balance. Rather than standing out, the seaweed lingered quietly in the background. As a result, the flavour lacked the deeper savoury pull often found in Japanese nori-shio style chips. A stronger savoury element — something closer to soy sauce depth — would likely have helped bring out the seaweed’s umami more clearly.
Overall, a very crisp layered corn snack with light seaweed notes, though the sweetness of the base limits the savoury impact.
