Miguel Maestre Sticky Date Pudding

This is the Miguel Maestre Sticky Date Pudding, containing 14% date paste.

Each box contained two sticky date puddings and a tub of caramel sauce. The puddings were reheated in the microwave for one minute each, with the sauce warmed separately for 20 seconds.

Once heated, the puddings released a fragrant aroma typical of sticky date pudding. On tasting, the texture was light and fluffy despite the dense style of the dessert. The date flavour was clear and aromatic, with small pieces of date visible throughout. Some pieces were slightly larger than others but generally unobtrusive, adding gentle texture. Subtle spice notes of nutmeg and cinnamon appeared in the background, supporting the sweetness of the dates.

The caramel sauce was less successful. It added considerable sweetness but lacked the darker caramel depth that would normally balance the pudding. The sauce also did not develop the thick, sticky character expected, making the pudding more enjoyable on its own.

Overall, a well-flavoured sticky date pudding with good date character, though the accompanying sauce adds little beyond extra sweetness.

This Miguel Maestre Sticky Date Pudding contained 450 g. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2026.
