Freshly made on site, the bottle was hot to the touch when handed to us. Once chilled, the soy drink had an opaque off-white hue and a nutty fragrance of soybeans similar to the sweetened version. On tasting, it offered the same smooth and creamy texture with a pronounced soybean flavour, indicative of its high soybean content. However, without the added sweetness, the soybean flavour had a notable savoury quality that was most pronounced in the second half of the sip and lingered into the finish. This made it a suitable base for savoury soy-based dishes, such as kongguksu (Korean cold soy milk noodle soup). For regular drinking, we prefer the mellow sweetness of the sweetened version.
