Tea Republic Sticky Rice Pu-Erh Milk Tea

This is the Sticky Rice Pu-Erh Milk Tea ($6.90, +$0.90 for large, +$1.00 for herbal jelly, 100% sugar, no ice) from Tea Republic. It featured sticky rice pu-erh tea, also known as nuo mi xiang, a Chinese tea from Yunnan Province made by blending pu-erh with the leaves of Semnostachya menglaensis, a local herb known for its sticky rice fragrance.

The beverage had an opaque dark tan hue with herbal jelly at the base. Consumed chilled, the earthy notes of the pu-erh were immediately evident, accompanied by the distinctive sticky rice fragrance. This fragrance rounded out the pu-erh, restraining some of its earthiness by adding a mellow, sweet rice quality. The overall flavour was reminiscent of a blend of pu-erh and Korean rice milk. Much like jasmine blends harmoniously with green tea, the combination of pu-erh tea with the gentle and elegant aroma of sticky rice was delightful in this milk tea format, making it worth repurchasing. The herbal jelly, which was gently bouncy, subtly herbal, and mildly sweet, was an ideal pairing.

This Sticky Rice Pu-Erh Milk Tea was purchased from Tea Republic in June 2024.
