This is the Chrysanthemum Pu-Erh Tea (33 HKD/6.6 AUD, 70% sweetness, no ice) from Ten Ren’s Tea in Hong Kong.
Served in an opaque paper cup with an opaque straw, the drink didn’t reveal its colour. Upon tasting, the puerh base took the lead with its earthy and woody notes, while the cane sugar complemented the sweet aftertaste of the puerh, providing a pure, clean sweetness. As it progressed through the palate, it developed with the warm, mild sweetness from the chrysanthemum, which also contributed subtle cooling menthol-like qualities, balancing the somewhat ‘heavier’ puerh notes and creating a refreshing beverage. Overall, this drink harmoniously celebrated both chrysanthemum and puerh in equal measure, making it a delightful choice.
