The beverage had an opaque pale yellow hue with three lemon slices and lychee flesh settled at the base. When consumed chilled, it opened with immediate notes of lychee marked by a sharp acidity reminiscent of canned lychee juice. Mid-sip, faint dewy jasmine notes emerged, but these were quickly overshadowed by pronounced astringency and bitterness, suggestive of oversteeped green tea—both in temperature and duration—similar to that often encountered at yum cha establishments. While the lychee flavour itself lacked the freshness and floral nuance of a well-crafted syrup, the fruit pieces provided a pleasant chewy texture and decent flavour typical of quality canned lychees, though several were too large to pass through the straw.
Overall, an imbalanced beverage with harsh tea notes and subdued lychee flavour, redeemed only slightly by the texture of the fruit pieces—ultimately not one to repurchase.
