This Koyomi Highball Blood Orange and Bitters is the second of three flavours released by Suntory in its line of chu hai for Australia.
The beverage was a transparent light orange colour with a sweet orange aroma and a mild carbonation. Served chilled, bright blood orange notes came through with a mellow sweetness and zestiness that builds into the body with the bitters to a very palatable bitterness ahead of an aromatic citrusy finish. The overall flavour mirrors the minimal acidity of blood oranges, resulting in a refreshing beverage with the sweetness of the blood orange balancing the bitterness of the alcohol well. The flavour was crisper and more delicate than the now-discontinued Angostura Blood Orange & Bitters, making this beverage also dangerously easy to drink.
