This is the Asahi Calpis Soda Overflowing Pear. It blended Calpis Soda with pear juice (1%).
The beverage was an opaque white hue and carried a fragrant aroma reminiscent of crisp Western pears, accompanied by a light carbonation. When consumed chilled, the same crisp flavor of Western pears took the forefront at the beginning of each sip, embodying the fresh sweetness of the fruit’s ripe flesh. This soft, sweet acidity of the pear dominated the initial half of each sip, gently receding in the second half to allow the subtle creamy tangy notes of Calpis soda to emerge, guiding the palate into the finish where the carbonation cleansed it for a clean aftertaste. The inclusion of pear juice created a milky carbonated drink that elevated the original Calpis Soda to a deliciously refreshing level, making it remarkably easy to drink and avoiding the overwhelmingly rich quality found in the Asahi Kokusan Ichigō Latte & Calpis.
