This is the Kirin Gogo no Kōcha Tea Selection Creamy Tea Latte. The black tea used for brewing contained 20% ‘candy tea leaves’, like the original Milk Tea, but also combined with fresh cream in addition to milk.
The tea had an opaque tan colour with a fragrant black tea aroma, similar to the original milk tea. When consumed chilled, a rich creamy sweetness emerged at the start of each sip. The heightened creaminess, compared to the original, masked all astringency or bitterness from the black tea base. While the taste profile, using the same tea leaf, was almost identical to the original milk tea, the addition of cream highlighted the stone fruit notes, bringing bright apricot and peach flavours that balanced the cream’s richness and lingered in the aftertaste. Overall, heightened fruitiness and smooth and balanced creaminess made this tea very enjoyable.
