This is the Ito En Genmaicha. The tea is a low-caffeine blend of ingredients from Japan: roasted brown rice, sencha and matcha.
The tea was a clear golden-yellow colour with a soothing nutty aroma. Served chilled, a deep nutty fragrance came through at the head of each sip and developed in the body with the gentle vegetal notes of the sencha and matcha adding a hint of natural sweetness before a clean finish. The tea was without the sharpness or bitterness that can accompany roasted rice or green tea, with the warmth of the roasted rice balanced beautifully with the vegetal notes of the green tea. Overall, this was a relaxing and rejuvenating tea.
