This Mindful Sparks Prestige Sparkling Yuzu Genmaicha is a part of the series of premium, locally produced, non-alcoholic, and artisanal sparkling tea offered by Mindful Sparks in Hong Kong. It contained yuzu juice from Ehime Prefecture and genmaicha from Aichi Prefecture in Japan.

The beverage was a translucent golden yellow hue, emitted a nutty genmaicha aroma complemented by a sweet hint of yuzu, and had a high carbonation. The inviting roasted fragrance mirrored the allure of hōjicha roasting outside a tea store, drawing one inside. Upon tasting, the immediate warmth of the nutty genmaicha notes took center stage, swiftly followed by the delightful sweetness and floral quality of yuzu in the body, akin to a concentrated yuzu syrup with a gentle tartness. In the second half of the sip, the subtle grassy notes of the green tea base in the genmaicha emerged for a fresh finish with minimal astringency. Towards the end of the sip, the tiny bubbles cleansed the palate, leaving a clean aftertaste.

Overall, this particular flavour from the Mindful Sparks Prestige line, alongside the Sparkling ‘Ice Cream’ Houjicha , stands out as one of our favourites. The sophisticated combination of the nutty warmth of the genmaicha and the floral sweetness of the yuzu contributed to its refreshing and unique character.
