This Nespresso Ispirazione Napoli is inspired by the coffee of Naples, which is known for its intensely strong espresso. It uses a blend of Robusta from Uganda with a hint of Arabica from South America.
The coffee is a dark roast — the most intense in the Nespresso capsule range — with an intensity of 13 (usually out of 12) and comes in a marbled red capsule.
The espresso was a dark black-brown colour with a velvety, roasted aroma. Prepared as a long black with a 1:1: water to espresso ratio, the coffee had an immensely smooth mouthfeel that begins with just a hint of acidity that quickly gave way to the deep roasted notes of the coffee that came through with a thick and velvety in the body and finishes with the lingering pleasant bitterness of cocoa. For such an intensely dark roast, the bitterness is surprisingly enjoyable even as a long black. The addition of milk amplifies the velvety notes for a creamy full-bodied coffee.
