This Nespresso Variations Paris Macaron is part of a limited edition trio in time for Christmas in 2018. It’s an almond flavoured coffee ‘emblematic of the macaron pastry’.

As with all the Variations, it uses the Livanto as the base with an intensity of 6 out of 13 and comes in a scalloped green and white capsule. Interestingly, it contained no natural extract from almond and relies on other natural flavourings to achieve the almond flavour.

The espresso was a translucent dark brown colour with a rich nutty almond aroma. Made as a long black with a 1:1 water to espresso ratio, the almond came through at the head of each sip with a brief hint of sweetness like the almond flavour used in baking before mellowing in the body to a warm nuttiness like the whole nut as the characteristic maltiness of the Livanto base developed ahead of a caramelised fruity finish with mild acidity. Overall, the almond flavour harmonises well with the Livanto base and the addition of milk would make for a round, nutty coffee for those who prefer white coffees.
This Nespresso Variations Paris Macaron contained 10 x 53 g capsules. It was produced in Switzerland and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
