This Nespresso World Explorations Buenos Aires Lungo is inspired by the vibrant Argentinian food scene and their sweet and milky coffee.
The coffee is split roast with a washed Colombian Arabica and a lightly roasted Ugandan Robusta. It has an intensity of 4 out of 13 and comes in a silver capsule with an ornate swirl motif.
The lungo is a black-brown colour with a distinct malty cereal aroma. Served black, those same malty cereal notes came through at the head of each sip with much like toasted wheat with a tinge of bitterness and without any sweetness. The flavour developed with nutty popcorn-like notes (much like popped rice in genmaicha) in the body before a brief acidity emerged towards the finish that gave way to a lingering bitterness in the aftertaste.
The coffee has a light body and is made all the milder when served with a dash of milk and some sweetener, which brought the enjoyable nutty, cereal notes to the foreground as the acidity and bitterness recedes.
