This is the Nescafe Gold Almond Latte, which is part of their new plant-based range.
Each sachet is a powdered coffee blend of Robusta and Arabica and finely milled almonds.
Preparing one 16 g sachet with 200 mL of water at 85°C, the beverage had an initial aroma of instant coffee before the notes of almond flavour dominate shortly thereafter. Served hot, the almond notes are bold throughout each sip with the coffee aspect coming through in the background as a subtle bitterness that counters the initial sweetness and comes to a prominence in the finish to linger long in the aftertaste.
The coffee takes a back seat in this beverage, which tastes more like Chinese sweet almond dessert soup with a heightened bitterness from the coffee notes. That comparison is hardly surprisingly though, as the dessert soup is essentially almond milk: it’s made from blended almonds that have been strained and sweetened. Those not familiar with that flavour would likely need time getting accustomed to it.
This Nescafe Gold Almond Latte contained 96 g or 6 serves. It was produced in France and received as a sample in Sydney, Australia in 2021.
