Eikokuya Strawberry Fruits Tea

This is the Eikokuya Strawberry Fruits Tea follows on from the melon in the same series.

The strawberry flavour comes with an individually sealed envelope containing the tea bag of black tea and another for the two dried strawberries.

Steeping one tea bag with the dried fruit in water at 85°C for 3 minutes, the infusion was a clear deep red colour with a sweet black tea nose. Strawberry notes are absent.

Served hot with one teaspoon of sugar, the flavour of black tea dominates the throughout tea with a slight bitterness. Notes of strawberry do came through, surprisingly, as a hint of sourness in the finish, which becomes more pronounced on biting into the rehydrated dried fruit. That said, the strawberry flavour was rather muted and without the sweetness of the fresh fruit, making this an unlikely tea to which to return.

This Eikokuya Strawberry Fruits Tea was part of a set of five different flavours and contained 4 g. The tea originated in Sri Lanka and was purchased in Tōkyō, Japan in 2014.
