Fukujuen Peach Sencha

This is Fukujuen Peach Sencha from a long-established tea house in Uji, Kyōto.

The tea consisted of a pyramid tea bagged sencha scented with peach.

Steeping one 2 g tea bag in 150 mL of water at  75°C for 70 seconds, the infusion was a clear pale yellow-green colour with a soft peach aroma. Served hot, gently umami notes came through briefly before the vegetal notes of the sencha dominated the sip with a moderate astringency into the finish where the subtlest hint of white peach emerged. The fruit flavour was marketed more restrained — too restrained — than in the other flavoured sencha by Fukujuen, leaving this tea to taste like a straight sencha, albeit a good quality one.

This Fukujuen Peach Sencha contained 5 x 2 g tea bags. The tea originated in Japan and was purchased in Uji, Kyōto, Japan in 2015.
