This T2 Green Rose is a little more than the green tea and rose petals that its name suggests.
The tea is a looseleaf green tea blended with rose petals and tropical fruits. After a simple green tea flavoured with rose petals, I was a bit disappointed to discover the additional currants, papaya and mango in the ingredients list that made it more of a tropical green tea.
Steeping 3 g of looseleaf in 200 mL of water at 80ºC, the infusion was a clear pale straw colour with a sweet tropical aroma. Served hot, mellow tropical notes of mango and papaya came through with a gentle sweetness and developing to the much sought after floral rose in the body that lingered through to the finish where the green tea subtly makes its presence known with a mild buttery quality without any grassiness or astringency.
Overall, this is one of the more enjoyable flavoured green teas from T2, despite its name ‘Green Rose’ not being an apt description for the tea and raising unmet expectations for a vegetal and floral green tea.
