The Tsuboichi Seicha Silver Needle Jasmine Tea Latte is a powdered drink mix for use with either milk or soy milk.
The powdered mix consisted of 10% powdered silver needle jasmine tea and 88% sugar (or around 8% sugar when prepared). The milk tea can be prepared using 1 part powder to 10-12 parts milk for a more milky taste or 1 part powder to 6 parts water to 4 parts milk for a stronger tea flavour.
Prepared with a combination of water and milk, the milk tea took on a beige-green colour. Sweet notes at the head of the sip were swiftly followed by a rather intrusive hint of milky dairy flavour before the dewy, floral notes of the jasmine emerged in the body briefly with a subtle sugarcane sweetness of a pan-fried green tea and then gave way to a notable astringency in the finish that lingered in the aftertaste. While the aroma of the tea was strong in powder form, the delicate notes of jasmine tea did not hold their own particularly well when paired with milk — even when prepared with water — so the tea lacked the depth of the Dong Ding Oolong.
This Tsuboichi Silver Needle Jasmine Tea Latte contained 70 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2022.
