With more than one location for bánh mì thit in Homebush West, we hedged out bets with one from Happy Snack Cafe House and another from Flamin Rolls.
The bakery bakes their own bread in-store with the result being a crusty decent sized roll. Their Pork Roll ($4.80) is filled generously with meat with two slices each of sliced pork, pork sausage, and roasted barbeque pork, along with the regular trimmings of carrot, lettuce as well as pickled carrot and cucumber.
The addition of the roasted barbeque pork surprised us by giving the roll an unexpected smokiness. While we enjoy the more typical flavour of bánh mì thit, the overall flavour was tasty with the freshness of the cucumber and lettuce and the added acidic crunch of the carrots and daikon. In comparison to the pork roll from further down the road at Happy Snack Cafe House, the size of the bread roll was smaller, but made up for by the generosity of the meat and the lower price.
