We took the opportunity to try Butter during the long months of physical distancing. It’s long been on our list to try but never quite close enough in a convenient direction to Westfield Parramatta for us to walk there. So we took advantage of UberEats!

This is the Butter’s OG Chicken Sandwich ($15.00) with dashi butter and pickled cucumber.
I hadn’t had a burger for many months at this point, but I near inhaled this one. The juiciness of the chicken thigh cutlet coupled with its audibly crisp coating, which was not the least bit oily despite packing an umami-rich dashi butter flavour, and the crunch and acidity from the pickle contrasted so well with the softness of the buns that held their shape throughout eating

Available as a side with the burger or on its own is the Miso Corny (+$4.00 with a burger or $4.50 on its own). It’s corn on the cob with miso butter. The corn is fresh and the kernels are sweet and plump with good bite, while the miso butter is generous moreish but we hardly think the corn cob is worth the price.

But onto the desserts that originally drew me to Butter. First up are Butter’s Famous Hot Cinnamon Donuts ($5.00 each or 5 for $20.00). The doughnut has a deliciously crisp outer skin that’s missing on most cinnamon doughnuts that are dusted in cinnamon sugar to give that extra crunch and sweetness, while the inside is the most tender and pillowy soft centre. While Donut King also does crispy cinnamon doughnuts, the innards of this look and taste of a higher quality with a more tender and less crumbly texture.

Finally, these were the Apple Pie Bites ($14.00 for 10), described as ‘hot apple pie bites with cinnamon sugar’. These took us by surprise with their thin, crispy pastry that’s just thick enough to hold the molten gently tart apple sauce in the centre that complemented remarkably with the generous dousing of cinnamon sugar on the outside. These melt in the mouth and were an absolute delight. We could eat a whole box each.
We’re thrilled that Butter delivered a tasty treat after putting off visiting for so long.
