Na no Hana, Ichinoseki

This is Na no Hana, a standing noodle shop positioned just beside the west exit ticket gate of Ichinoseki Station.

Soba with Teriyaki Chiken and Maitake Mushroom (¥630)

The bowl featured two pieces of chicken thigh that had been gently boiled and seasoned with shōyu, resulting in meat that was unexpectedly tender and succulent. Alongside it were two portions of maitake mushroom, providing a savoury earthiness that paired well with the light broth and buckwheat noodles. The overall balance of the dish was straightforward but well considered, with nothing extraneous and nothing lacking.

Having initially ordered a single bowl out of cautious scepticism—an instinct shaped by the unpredictability of station eateries—we found ourselves returning immediately for the final serving before it sold out. The combination of flavour, warmth, and value made it far more satisfying than anticipated.

Overall, Na no Hana serves as a brief pause point for commuters, with a steady flow of travellers stopping in to eat before boarding their trains. The atmosphere is functional and brisk, with an emphasis on speed rather than ceremony, yet the cooking carries a level of care that exceeds the expectations typically attached to station-side stalls

Na no Hana is located at West Gate, JR Ichinoseki, 67 Ekimae, Ichinoseki City, Iwate 021-0867, Japan.
