We went to Vincent’s Noodle House inside Dooleys Catholic Club in Lidcombe for a family dinner when D’s grandmother visited from overseas.
Wagyu Beef Noodle Soup ($20.00). This dish solved our chief lament when it comes to phở — overcooked beef — so it was almost a matter of course that we ordered this dish where the slices of wagyu are served on the side. The soup came out piping hot, so we could control the extent to which we cooked each slice of beef. A quick swish gave us melt-in-the-mouth tender and soft mouthfuls of wagyu that were delectable. The broth itself was flavourful, with great depth of flavour and without heavy reliance on MSG like the one at Phở Pasteur. We enjoyed the wagyu but we’re almost certain that regular beef slices would be also delicious if served on the side.
Lo[n]gan Icy Sweet ($6.00). This had the smokiness of dried longans, while the longans themselves retained a firm texture. It was a refreshing finish to the meal with a mellow sweetness.
While our previous experiences at Lloyd’s Bistro at Dooleys Catholic Club were lacklustre, we surprised ourselves with how much we enjoyed the food at Vincent’s Noodle House.
