Mochipang is known for its handmade fresh cream mochi made with fresh fruit. This is the 4pc Thai Kee Exclusive Variety Box ($32.50), containing one each of strawberry, peach, rose and mango. Each mochi is about 7 cm in diameter.

Strawberry Fresh Cream Mochi, with mochi skin around a centre of fresh strawberries and vanilla-infused fresh cream, topped with a slice of fresh strawberry.

The mochi is incredibly soft and stretchy yet provides a sufficient structure for the innards. The strawberries are generous, giving a fresh acidity to counter the sweetness of the cream, with its cubed format making for easy consumption with each bite.

Watermelon & Rose Fresh Cream Mochi, with mochi skin around a centre of fresh watermelon and rose-infused fresh cream, topped with a rose petal.

The mochi has the same pillowy lightness, yet perhaps due to the higher water content of the watermelon, the cream in the interior is more liquid than the more ‘set’ texture of the other three. That aside, the watermelon brought delectable cubes of sweet crunch that contrasted the softness of the mochi, while the rose notes in the cream elevated the flavour. This was our favourite of the four.

Peach Fresh Cream Mochi, with mochi skin around a centre of fresh peach and vanilla-infused cream, shaped like a peach and topped with a basil leaf.

The resemblance of this mochi to a peach makes it a pretty drawcard, yet we found the peach flavour lacking although the peach pieces did add texture. This is the prettiest, yet our least favourite of the four.

Mango Fresh Cream Mochi, with mochi skin around a centre of fresh mango and vanilla-infused cream, topped with a cube of fresh mango.

With the stretchy and pillowy softness consistent throughout, the addition of the mango filling here gave this one a remarkable resemblance to Cantonese-style mango pancakes but better simply because of the mochi exterior. The mango pieces were sweet, fresh and summery, making it our favourite second only to the watermelon and rose.
