Just a quick round-up of the flavours we enjoyed at Hakiki Turkish Ice Cream this year —
N tried one of their creamy flavours, Pistachio (the green scoop on top; the pink one is Turkish Delight, which we’d had before). It’s one of the best pistachio gelatos we’ve had the pleasure of trying. It has a bright pistachio flavour with a restrained dairy flavour while avoiding excessive emphasis on the salty qualities of the nut, which is where most other pistachio gelato tends to fail.
My creamy flavour was Pomegranate and Raspberry (the pink scoop behind, the front is watermelon, strawberry and rosewater which we’d had before). It’s a raspberry base with pomegranate swirls throughout. The raspberry base has a marked dairy flavour while the pomegranate swirls add pops of brightness. The overall effect, though, is an immensely creamy ice cream that’s a tad too sweet for me.
