D and I are on a mission to find delicious banana bread that’s reasonably priced and easily acquired. To be honest, we found our holy grail banana bread at the Harris Farm Markets in Baulkham Hills, but that was neither reasonably priced nor easy to acquire! So we’re going back to basics with this Coles Banana Bread.

The first thing we notice is that the colour is much paler than what we expect from delicious banana bread, despite the high (~26%) percentage of banana used and the fragrant smell of banana.

Upon tasting, the paleness of the banana bread came through as a noticeably strong floury flavour that competes with the banana and detracts from our enjoyment. The bread also lacked the delicious pops of moist banana came through in homemade banana bread, as the banana has been blended smooth into the batter. Overall, we’re not sure why this banana bread claims to have won silver and bronze awards.
This Coles Banana Bread contained 550 g. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2017.
