OKI Hot & Spicy Crispy Fried Chicken Coating

Deep fried chicken wings are one of D’s favourite foods but we often find there’s too much batter on the Wicked Wings at KFC. So, lately, we’ve been making our own at home with this OKI Hot & Spicy Crispy Fried Chicken Coating.

The coating comes in an orange powder form and is used in two stages:

  1. To marinade the chicken wings. Use a ratio of 30 g powder to 60 mL cold water for every 300-500 g of chicken.
  2. To batter the chicken wings. Cover the marinaded wings all over with powder.

After deep frying for 7-10 minutes in 180ºC oil, the wings are golden brown with a thin and crispy coating that delivered just enough crunch and spicy heat for the ultimate deep-fried chicken wing. Indeed, there’s not ripping off excess batter to get to the chicken here, yet there’s still crunch with every bite while the chicken is still juicy and tender. We’ve not tried the original version without spice, but we enjoy the kick of this one too much to experiment.

This OKI Crispy Fried Chicken Coating contained 120 g. It was produced in Malaysia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2019.
