These Indo Mie Mi Goreng Spicy Beef Ribs Flavour Instant Noodles are a tasty twist on the original.

Each package comes with a dried noodle cake and sachets for seasoning powder, seasoning oil, sweet soy sauce and fried onion. There are only four sachets compared to the five in the original.
As with the original, the noodles can be prepared on the stove by boiling for 2.5 mins, in the microwave for 5 mins, or as we prefer to, soaking in freshly boiled water for 3 mins. The water is then drained, the sachets added, and the noddles mixed.

The noodles have a distinctly buttery aroma, which came through on tasting. It’s a buttery and slightly sweet with a pleasant beef flavour throughout. I’m not sure flavours are distinct to beef ribs as opposed to beef, but I imagine it has to do with the sticky sweet sauce that often coats beef ribs and came through prominently in these noodles. As for the ‘spicy’ part of its name, the heat here is very moderate – nothing to leave a lingering burn – and markedly less spicy than the original.
While this flavour was enjoyable, the buttery sweetness makes it less of an everyday flavour than the original.
