This is the Maeda Fukushima Peach Langue de Chat. It contained 0.15% peach juice from white peaches grown in Fukushima Prefecture.
Each box contained 10 individually sealed cookies.
Each cookie measured 4 x 4 x 0.9 cm and consisted of two thin biscuits sandwiching a 0.3 cm layer of white chocolate flavoured with peach juice. The biscuits had golden brown edges that faded to a pale centre, while the chocolate layer was a pastel pink hue.
On tasting, the biscuits were crisp, fine-crumbed, and melted on the palate, contributing additional sweetness alongside the white chocolate filling. However, the peach flavour was subtle, emerging primarily in the finish with a pronounced sugary sweetness, lacking acidity, rather than the juicy, floral sweetness expected from a premium white peach, for which Fukushima is renowned. While enjoyable, these cookies lacked the refined balance of sweetness and texture found in the original Shiroi Koibito.
