This is the Lay’s Unlimited Braised Pork.

The crisps were uniformly shaped, gently curved discs resembling Pringles, each measuring approximately 5.3 cm in diameter and 1 mm thick. They presented with a pale orange hue flecked with black seasoning. Opening the can released a caramelised soy aroma.

Initial contact delivered a crisp, clean brittle fracture, followed by caramelised sweetness. Through the mid-palate, savoury soy sauce developed, shifting the profile from sweet to savoury. Towards the finish, a subtle fragrant note of star anise emerged, bringing the flavour closer to braised pork. The seasoning remained relatively subdued compared with other flavours from the Lay’s Snack Series, with less complexity and a narrower progression than expected.
The crisps remained relatively dry to the touch, with little oiliness and minimal seasoning migration onto the fingers. The texture remained consistent through the bite, with the brittle fracture providing the main structural characteristic.
Overall, a seasoned potato crisp with a sweet-to-savoury trajectory and clean brittle texture, resulting in a restrained interpretation of braised pork that captured the broad flavour profile but lacked the complexity of other flavours in the series.
This Lay’s Unlimited Braised Pork contained 90 g. It was produced in China and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2025.
