This is Golden Crown Cake Shop, a Chinese bakery specialising in traditional pastries, egg tarts and baked goods.

Egg Tart ($2.00)
This featured a shortcrust pastry with a well-set egg custard. The pastry maintained decent structural integrity, although a pronounced margarine flavour dominated the crust. The tart also carried a slight alcoholic note in both aroma and flavour, with little discernible egg character. The custard was smooth but more firmly set than silky, without the softer, jiggly texture associated with some versions.

Pandan Egg Tart ($2.00)
This featured the same shortcrust pastry filled with a well-set pandan-flavoured egg custard. The alcoholic note present in the original was absent or largely masked by the pandan, which emerged almost immediately with a pronounced grassy, vanilla-like character. The custard remained smooth and firmly set rather than silky or jiggly. The pastry retained the same margarine-forward flavour and texture as the original.

Sesame Red Bean Ball ($2.80)
This featured a chunky red bean centre surrounded by glutinous rice and coated in sesame seeds before deep-frying. The glutinous rice was excessively wet, resulting in a soggy, deflated exterior rather than the expected crisp structure. Its wet texture also carried through to the flavour, creating a distinctly soggy, waterlogged impression. The chunky red bean provided welcome textural variation and was only lightly sweetened, though this further reinforced the earthy, wet-bean character.

White Sesame Wife Cake ($3.00)
At room temperature, the pastry and filling were both notably dense. Reheating in an air fryer at 160°C for four minutes softened the pastry while retaining its flaky structure, while the glutinous filling also became softer and released a more pronounced sesame nuttiness. The candied melon had been blended relatively smooth, leaving little of its usual textural bite. The reheated version nevertheless provided a more effective balance of flaky pastry and fragrant sesame filling. A reasonable wife cake, with the black sesame version worth trying for comparison.
Overall, a Chinese bakery with straightforward traditional pastries, though execution varied noticeably between items. The Pandan Egg Tart improved the otherwise muted custard through its pronounced pandan character, while the White Sesame Wife Cake benefited substantially from reheating. The Sesame Red Bean Ball was the weakest item due to its excessively wet glutinous rice.
